I do not claim to know anything about battle of any kind, I can only imagine.
I took my inspiration from books I was reading set in 10th century Britain with the Danish Viking sea-raiders.
I was interested in the contrast between all-out skirmishing chaos and terrifying but disciplined and locked-in shield-wall advancing.
